inside the liquor store
you buy a can of soda
and a can of tomato soup.
you come home to an empty
apartment.
you heat the stove and stir,
but only occasionally.
it's the day after Christmas
but there's nowhere
you need to be.
that's okay.
you empty the soup
into a bowl and
wait until it's cold.
